Best analytics tools for marketing sites

Who this is for
Marketers and product people who need a monthly answer — where they came from, what they read — not a theme park of charts. Start with privacy-respecting analytics. Add heavier attribution only when you are actually spending on ads.
Questions worth asking
- Do I still need Google Analytics?
- Not by default. Plausible or a similar light tool will answer “where did they come from and what did they read?” For paid media attribution, you may still need something heavier.
- What should a monthly report include?
- Top pages, referrers, one or two goals, and a sentence about what you will change. Vanity charts without a next step are decoration.
- How do I track a directory click?
- On Unloc, outbound clicks are counted when someone uses our go-links. On your own site, a simple event on the CTA is enough.
