Privacy

Unloc is a public tools directory at unloc.tools. You can browse it without an account. This page says what we actually collect.

A normal visit

Reading a category, a tool, or a guide does not ask you to sign in. When someone leaves through a listing, we count that click so a board can show a real number. That count is about the listing, not a profile of you. Cookies are described below.

Cookies

Optional cookies stay off until you choose. The banner offers Accept all, Reject all, and Manage preferences. Accept all and Reject all are the same size. The choice is stored in this browser: the categories you allowed, the time you chose, and the version of this notice. It is not an account. If that version changes, we ask again. Cookie settings in the footer reopens the same choices.

Strictly necessary

Needed for the site to load, keep a form submission secure, and remember this choice. Always on.

Analytics

Google Analytics 4, so we can see which pages get read. Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_*. Off until you turn it on. Vercel Web Analytics runs on every visit and does not use this choice.

Marketing

Ad storage, ad data, and ad personalisation. Off until you turn it on. Unloc does not show ads on the site.

When analytics is on, Google Analytics 4 may set these cookies:

_ga distinguishes browsers for Google Analytics.
_ga_* keeps session state for this site’s measurement id.

Switching analytics off deletes those cookies in this browser. Staff sign-in uses a separate httpOnly cookie named unloc_admin. Browsing the directory does not set it.

Submitting a tool

The submit form asks for the tool’s name, URL, category and pitch, plus your name and email so we can review the listing and reply if we need to. Listings stay pending until someone reads them. We use that email for the listing. We do not sell it. We add you to the newsletter only if you tick the box or sign up.

Paid placements

Category pins and Claim #1 are paid through Stripe Checkout. Card details stay with Stripe. We keep the placement: which listing, the amount, and the Stripe reference we need to show the row and to sort a dispute. We do not store the card number.

Asking for a change

If a listing is wrong, or you want the name and email from a submission removed, use the contact page. Say which tool and which address. We will update or delete the submission record. A published listing can also be taken down from there.
